Ciuris et al. 2019, Protein digestibility in vegetarian and omnivorous athletes

Comparison of dietary protein quality (DIAAS scoring) in vegetarian and omnivorous athletes. Vegetarian diets scored lower for digestible, available protein (about 90% versus 100%), so vegetarian athletes needed roughly 10 g more protein a day to reach the same available protein. Plant proteins are lower in digestibility and amino-acid quality, so total intake has to be higher. Moderate.
